School Uniform Reminder 2025

The James Hornsby School has a very clear policy linked to uniform and standards, students should therefore be smart and wear their uniform with pride. We believe that good standards of dress promote a positive attitude to work and behaviour and identify students to local residents and future employers. We have worked hard to create a uniform that is distinctive and smart.

Our Compulsory School uniform consists of:

• JHS branded black blazer
• Black straight leg trousers – these must not be tight fitting and should cover the top of the
school shoe approx. 7 inches wide at the bottom
• Girls can wear a black box pleated school skirt which should be no more than 5cm above the knee and must not be rolled up at the top
• Plain white stiff collar shirt with the top button done up and tucked in
• Appropriate JHS college tie with 5 clear double lines showing
• Plain black school socks, these can be knee length socks. Girls can wear black tights
• Shoes must be plain black, flat, hard soled, leather footwear. No boots, heels or trainers
• An optional plain black V-neck jumper can be worn, this must not be ribbed or tight fitting (jumpers are not to be worn without a blazer)

Appropriate hair styles:

Hair should be tidy and sensible, no extreme hairstyles are allowed i.e. not less than grade 2 in length, no severe undercuts, hair should not be dyed and should be one natural colour, there should be no shapes cut into the hair e.g. stripes. Long hair must be tied back at all times during PE lessons. Any hairbands or clips should be black in colour, no bows or bright colours and of a narrow width.
